On September 14th and 15th, the team around Gunter Saake, Michael Kuhn, and David Broneske invited the researchers of the 15 projects of SPP 2377 to the Otto-von-Guerike-University Magdeburg for the first annual meeting of the priority program.
After welcoming remarks by Olaf Spinczyk the annual meeting started with a keynote by Jana Giceva from TU Munich titled “Programming Fully Disaggregated Systems”.
In several presentation sessions the projects reported on their progress and planned research directions. The first sessions was chaired by Daniel Lohmann and included the projetcs ARTS-NVM, Anchor, SMASH and HetCIM. During the coffee breaks a poster session with posters from all 14 research projects offered another opportunity to discuss ideas and further collaboration. The projects MemoryDiplomat, ParPerOS, PAVE, and VAMPIR were presented in a second session chaired by Dirk Habich.
In between the project presentations, the results of the mini workshops were presented. With several collaborations initiated between SPP projects, including a special session at CASES’23 and an ongoing survey paper project, the first round of mini workshops proved to be very fruitful.
At the end of the first day the participants met at the Wirtshaus Magdeburg to have dinner together and continue their discussions in a less formal setting.
The second day started with a welcome by Michael Kuhn and continued with presentations of the projects FOSSIL, HYPNOS, PIMPme, Memento, and CIMware. Reports by SMAUG, NEON, and the coordination project completed the project presentations and were chaired by Olaf Spinczyk and Marcel Köppen. This was followed by a round of feedback from the SPP Advisory Board. Finally the annual meeting was concluded by an open discussion on the future direction of the SPP.
